Objective
To provide expertise in financial management, accounts, development of internal policies, strategies and plans of the Institute.
This Directorate perform the following functions; -
(i) To initiate, develop, and monitor implementation of financial policies, systems, and procedures for sound financial management and operations.
(ii) To plan, co-ordinate, direct and control all financial accounting matters of the Institute.
(iii) To ensure that daily accounting and financial operations are properly managed;
(iv) To prepare and maintain proper accounting records of the Institute.
(v) To prepare financial statements and have them audited for presentation to the Rector, Governing Board and other interested bodies.
(vi) To prepare and submit monthly, quarterly reports and any other financial information required.
(vii) To prepare Institute’s budgets (income & expenditure) using inputs from different directorates and units.
(viii) To implement directives on financial accounting matters.
(ix) To ensure all monies of the Institute are properly collected ;
(x) To ensure timely preparation and payment of salaries and emoluments;
(xi) To maintain up to date financial information on revenue and expenditure;
(xii) To oversee arrangements for the maintenance of an inventory of assets held by the Institute, and ensure that they are insured;
(xiii) To maintain up to date and transparent Management information system on all accounts at all levels;
(xiv) To supervise staff and other functions in the department;
(xv) To interpret financial regulations and provide adequate guidance to staff members.
(xvi) To assist in the implementation of resolutions of the Board and its Committees in financial matters;
(xvii) To review financial accounting policies, systems and procedures; and
(xviii) To advise the top management on all financial and matters.
